| Shooting Painting is a series of works that were created by shooting the reliefs and sculptures with containers of paints buried underneath them. The unusual sight of a young female artist with a big rifle attracted attention, and Niki's talent blossomed. The "Shooting Painting" performance was given over 12 times from 1961 to 1962, in Europe and America, causing enormous sensation. She shot at symbols such as church, monster, politicians, Virgin Mary, and, when finished, works were full of tension. |
